I've seen a number of the old name pins, made of gold filled square wire that writes a girl's name out in script. Sometimes these would be mounted on a mother of pearl background. Sometimes you would get just the name, and sometimes there would be an extra sweeping swirl of wire to add pizzazz.
This is a *bangle bracelet* made of quite heavy gauge round metal, and it has the name "Alena" spelled out in square wire. The name perches on the edge of the bangle, holding tight to it with coils of wire that add style as well as sturdiness. The wire then continues into an expertly done full twist texture to arch, curl, and arabesque around the name. It is so well done, and the twisted wire is the *same* continuous wire used in the name.
The bracelet is adjustable by an ingenious self-looping of the wire around both sides of the back, so it can really fit just about any possible wrist size. Really nicely designed!
The name with swirls is about 2" long total. Piece is unmarked and in good condition. Very hard to photo though! Pic does not do this justice.
